Where is Ambit Psychological Services located?
Sitting in the Sound Shore region of Westchester County, NY, our Mamaroneck office is easily accessible off of I-95 (free parking available on-site) and is only a 10 minute walk from the Mamaroneck MetroNorth Train station.
Do you take health insurance?
We are considered an out-of-network practice for almost all insurance companies with the exception of Aetna and UMR Top Tier. If you have out of network benefits, we will provide a monthly superbill with all of the necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
What are your rates?
We understand that your time and investment are important. With almost 20 years of experience and advanced training, our goal is to help you achieve clarity, confidence, and a better quality of life.
Please reach out to discuss rates for individual and family sessions, speaking engagements, and coaching.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Yes! Sometimes having a separate space where you can ensure privacy and get away from your day-to-day stressors can really enhance the therapeutic experience. Our office is located within a quiet professional building, a comfortable waiting area and private restrooms.
How does virtual therapy work?
Virtual therapy is a great option that offers flexibility and can help remove cost and time barriers by reducing commute time and required time off of work. We will discuss if this is a viable option for you during our initial consultation. If so, you will receive secure video chat links for each individual session.
How should I choose a therapist?
One of the key aspects to success in therapy is the client-therapist match. Think about your identities, and identify which ones matter most to you. This will be helpful in seeking out professionals that either share or have knowledge around these identities. Then, research some treatment styles that you think would work best for you - for example, do you want someone who has a quiet, warm approach or someone who will be more engaged, conversational, and who will challenge you more? Then, schedule a few consultations with different providers to get a sense of your comfort level with each one.
At Ambit Psychological Services, we focus on providing a culturally informed, systemic perspective to develop deeper insight and create meaningful change through the use of evidenced based, interpersonal, and down to earth approaches. I tend to have a very personable style and will help you be honest with yourself.
What can I expect during my first appointment?
Our first session, or “intake”, will be an hour long clinical interview. The purpose of the intake is to cover a variety of areas to understand details related to your family, social, medical, and psychiatric history. You will also have a chance to ask me any questions you may have.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
Although not the answer you probably want to hear, the most honest answer is that it depends. Your course of treatment will vary entirely on the nature of the work that you’re looking to do. Some folks do well with support for a few months, whereas other folks benefit from a longer-term relationship. We will discuss this together to determine what is right for you.
I’m worried about a loved one. Can I make an appointment for them?
Watching a loved one suffer emotionally can be very difficult; still, unless your loved one is an under aged dependent of yours, you cannot schedule an appointment on their behalf. However, you can share your concerns with them, and offer to help them find some help if they are open to it.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
A Good Faith Estimate shows the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs for an item or service. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created, and does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.
